In the area of stratification, an old tank is given a new lease of life by providing a new interior coating that guarantees a leakproof system for the at least 25 years. An underground storage tanks (USTs) generally have an effective life span of up to about fifteen (15) years. The lifespan will differ from one tank to another depending on the method of fabrication of the tank, the condition of the material used and the environmental condition of the buried tank among others.

Our Tank Stratification is fast and efficient in the sense that what others will take two (2) or three (3) months to replace, we will reline it within two (2) weeks, giving a better material integrity than a new single wall.

Objective of Stratification

Every Underground Storage Tanks (UST) beyond a certain age, begins to present a lot of problems which manifest in loss of money, environmental degradation, and mistrust among dealers, fuel suppliers and the OMC. A decision to replace a tank exhibiting signs of leakage is often a difficult one because of loss of sales during replacement and of course, the cost of replacement.

The objective of stratification, in simple terms, is to give a new lease of life to the same old tank whiles still in the ground and to give a sense of guarantee that the tank is not going to leak to degrade the environment for the next 25 to 50 years.

Stratification process

The stratification process is mainly opening and cleaning of the tank through both visual and technical inspection. The visual and technical inspection is carried out as the tank wall is sand blasted. Any sharp edge is eliminated before applying a fibre glass coating to stratify the tank. Anti- static finishing coat is then applied. The coating ‘s porosity and thickness is checked before closing the tank.

Fast: The methodology we use ensures a minimal downtime as compared to exhumation of an old tank, transport of a new one, replacement of the new tank altogether and re-doing of the forecourt. A 45,000 L fuel tank capacity takes approximately fourteen (14) days to stratify.

Economical: In addition to the time saving as compared to the replacement of a fault tank. It is economically cheaper over time.

Reliable: the methodology is reliable as it expands the life span of the underground storage tank to at least twenty-five (25) years.
